Shamanic Laws that deliver us to freedom.

I was recently introduced to the 4 fundamental laws of Shamanism, these four laws resonated very deeply with me as it’s been my philosophy in life for a while. In my studies over the last 20 years and in my deep search within myself I have found these to be true and communicated to me through many of my mentors’ teachings. As they are fresh in my mind I thought April’s blog would be a great place to share them with you all.

Law No 1 – “The person who comes into our life is the right person”.

In other words, no one comes into our lives by chance, all the people around us, who interact with us, who bring us pain, sadness, healing, and joy are there for a reason. They are present and available to support us to learn and advance in each situation. They have a purpose, sometimes we challenge the lesson and never get past the original intent for their presence leaving us feeling stuck or empty.

Law No 2 – “What happens is the only thing that could have happened.”

Nothing, but nothing, absolutely nothing that happens to us in our lives could have been otherwise. Not even the most insignificant detail. There is no: “if I had done such a thing, such another would have happened…”. Nope. What happened was the only thing that could have happened, and it had to have been so for us to learn that lesson and move on. I always remember sitting in front of my dad as a young woman in tears and pain relaying an experience I had, my dad waited until I finished speaking, looked me in the eyes and asked me “Who would you rather be” I replied “Sorry .. I don’t know what you mean”, he continued, “In that story, who would you rather be” I pondered this question for a while and came to the conclusion I did not want to be my abuser, life inside his mind and skin appeared to be a scary place, it must have been for him to have behaved the way he did, I lifted my head and said “Me dad, I’d rather be me” he said exactly, that story had to happen, it’s what you do with it that will set you free or lock you up. Each and every one of the situations that happen to us in our lives are perfect, even if our mind and our ego resist and do not want to accept it. There is always something we need to learn or have revealed, what we then do with it is up to us.

Law No 3 – “Anytime it starts is the right time.”

Everything starts at the right time, neither before nor after we are ready, not through waiting nor rushing. When we are ready for something new to start in our lives, that is when it will begin.

We cannot force it, push it back or walk away from it, when things are going to happen, they will, I always remember when starting my entrepreneur journey hearing the words “Start before you are ready” these were scary words for many young entrepreneurs, but after packing in my job, borrowing £27,000 from my husband and placing myself £66,000 into debt through asset finance I quickly embraced “The time is now” mentality.

Law No 4 – “When something ends, it ends.”

And just like that it’s over.

If something ends in our lives, it is for our evolution, therefore it is better to leave it, move on and advance already enriched by that experience. All too often we spend our time and energy looking at the doors that have closed, we fail to identify the doors that are open. We do not have enough room to take everything and everyone on this journey with us, we need to make space for new openings. Only when in the darkness can we truly see the light. For most of us our experience of endings is painful, filled with the dread of the unknown or
experienced as abrupt and hurtful interactions. Beautiful endings are available to us all if we just learn the lesson and accept not everyone and everything is on this journey with you … and what I’ve discovered is … that’s ok.

I hope these words make as much sense to you as they do to me.

Always remember no raindrop ever falls in the wrong place.
